Great website with tons of research: http://www2.sunysuffolk.edu/mandias/lia/little_ice_age.html. This article discusses the “little ice age” in Europe, 1150 – 1460. The author also wrote “Global Warmining, Man or Myth”. Check both out, if you have questions or just want more information.
I have been reading a book called “Collapse” by Jared Diamond which discusses the archeological and historical evidence explaining why societies succeed or collapse over centuries. Some learned to create sustainable populations and food sources and others did not. He identifies about 7 variables that affect a societies sustainability. Some, like population and food sources are within a peoples’ control, some, like weather fluctualions are not.
In any case, with many of us wondering about the sustainability of our global food practises and population growth, the book and the websites provide food for thought.
